Pflugerville resident Jesse Bohls Jr. died Sept. 28 after suffering a stroke days before. Bohls was 82 years old.

In his younger years, Bohls served as a missionary in New Guinea, where he helped build a girl's school and hospital. The construction experience he gained there led him to become a custom home builder in the Pflugerville area when he returned in 1958.

Bohls was also on the first Deutschen Pfest committee and established the Christmas Luminary at Immanuel Lutheran Church. His other community involvement included serving as a chief for the Pflugerville Fire Department and supporting Habitat for Humanity.

Services were held Sept. 29. Bohls is survived by his wife Annyce Bohls; sons; Douglas Bohls and wife Lynette, Robert Bohls and Sidney Bohls and wife Jennifer; and five grandchildren.
