A nontraditional style of apartments could soon break ground in Round Rock. Rather than construct a multiple story complex with dozens of units per building, Urbana at Meadow Lake is designing a neighborhood comprising approximately 280 single-family homes and duplexes for rent.
On Sept. 10, Round Rock City Council cleared a rezoning request for the development, which is slated for a 47.54-acre site northwest of Old Settlers Boulevard and A.W. Grimes Boulevard.
“The Urbana project is a new project for Round Rock—something different that we don’t currently have in terms of type of housing,” said Brad Wiseman, the city’s director of planning and development.
Urban Moment, the developers behind the project, recently completed a similar concept in Austin: Urbana at Goodnight Ranch. The Austin site features a community pool, walking trails, playscape areas, a fenced pet park and other amenities.
