Single-family home development Chester Ranch clears zoning in Round Rock

A proposed single-family home development cleared zoning with a unanimous Round Rock City Council vote March 26.

Council rezoned 28.8 acres near Red Bud Lane and CR 122, just east of Paloma Lake. Of this, nearly 6 acres near McNutt Creek were designated for open space. The remaining 22.8 acres will be developed into a single-family subdivision, referred to as Chester Ranch in city documents.

Public street connections are planned at North Red Bud Lane and at CR 122, Round Rock Director of Planning and Development Brad Wiseman said.

Round Rock Planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing on Feb. 19 and voted 7-0 to recommend approval of the rezoning.

Steve Meid, founder of Pinehurst Builders, the developer and homebuilder behind the project, spoke to council March 26. He said plans, while preliminary, include 62 single-family homes with a price range of $300,000 to upwards of $500,000. Square footage of the homes is anticipated to range from 1,500-4,500, depending on the lot, Meid said.
