Meadow Lake Park and trail to be extended in Round Rock

Plans to expand Meadow Lake Park in northeast Round Rock and to extend a trail further around Meadow Lake advanced Feb. 27.

Round Rock City Council voted 6-0 to accept a parkland dedication from the developers behind Quick Farm, a site that includes plans for residential, commercial and office space, near the intersection of Old Settlers Boulevard and A.W. Grimes Boulevard. Council Member Matt Baker was absent for the vote.

Quick Farm landowners conveyed two tracts of land, both adjacent to the lake. The first, a 5.84-acre dam tract, will be added to the existing 76.5-acre, city-owned Meadow Park, said Brad Wiseman, Round Rock’s director of planning and development. The second tract, a 1.16-acre portion of land, will extend an existing 1.35-mile trail further around the lake.

“The city hopes to build a trail all the way around the lake,” Wiseman said. “[Council’s Feb. 27 action] won’t complete the lake trail, yet. But it gets us one step closer.”

Other plans for Quick Farms include a proposal by Milestone Community Builders to build single-family homes. The development, called The Meadows at Quick Ranch, is slated for a 26-acre tract near the lake. The rest of the tracts have been zoned for various commercial and office uses, but specific plans for those sites have not yet been announced.
