Round Rock reopens recreation fields, outlines resumption of city facilities in coming weeks

Following Gov. Greg Abbott's April 27 announcement of Texas' phased business reopening plan, the city of Round Rock has provided details on city facilities and services in the coming weeks.

On May 4, some outdoor recreation facilities reopened while adhering to social distancing guidelines. Included in those facilities are city soccer, baseball and football fields and tennis courts, per a May 1 city new release.

These fields and courts will be available for public instructions, and parties will be limited to four people per group, according to the release. Pavilions at city parks are also now available for rental services, the release confirmed.

Coinciding with Abbott's Phase 2 reopening strategies, Round Rock City Hall and the Round Rock Public Library are both expected to reopen to the public May 18, per the release. Social distancing provisions will be enforced following the facilities' reopenings.

Prior to May 18, the library will continually offer curbside pickup services and online programs. Patrons can contact library staff via email or telephone, and library returns can be made through the library's external book drop, per the release.

Discussions are ongoing regarding the city's sports facilities, according to the release. Round Rock's sports management and tourism department will begin facility rentals in the near future, and updates regarding the Clay Madsen Recreation Center and the Allen R. Baca Center will be shared in the coming weeks.
