Construction at Spring Valley Road and Abrams Road is set to begin soon, with Richardson City Council approving a contract bid at the Feb. 17 meeting.
The overview
The contract for the intersection improvements for $1.173 million include removal of existing northbound and southbound lanes right-turn slip lanes, which was recommended by a study of the intersection. A slip lane allows traffic turning right to separate from through traffic at an intersection.
The contract also includes improvements to the sidewalk and ramps, replacing traffic signals, inlet and storm drain relocation, and pavement marking and striping, according to city documents.
