Hutchenrider selected as Richardson’s mayor pro tem

Council member Ken Hutchenrider was unanimously elected by City Council as mayor pro tem for the 2025-2027 term during a May 19 meeting.

Council member Arefin Shamul, who serves in Place 6, was the previous mayor pro tem.

Every term, a new mayor pro tem is elected by City Council, who serves as mayor in the event the mayor is unable to. Mayor pro tem also represents the city and council at events, such as ribbon-cutting and ground breaking ceremonies, when asked.
