Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas opened a new college and career readiness club at Richardson High School on Oct. 19.
The club offers free programming after school five days a week to help students explore professional and educational opportunities beyond high school.
“I’ve always believed that schools can be so much more than places where students come to take classes or earn credits,” RHS Assistant Principal John Williams said. “I believe that our school is an institution where students discover who they are.”

The club will center on BGCD’s Blueprint Richardson program, a pilot program designed to expose students to career pathways and build practical professional skills.
The programming will feature a monthly speaker series on post-graduation paths, skilled trade and professional curriculums, field trips and guidance and tutoring for test preparation and college applications.
Williams said the club aims to begin with an enrollment of 60 students this year and plans to ramp up to 200 students in the next few years.
While the club is free for students, BGCD CEO Brian Slye said the organization is still working on fundraising and community partnerships to support the program.
“We have so many incredible students who have so much potential, and I believe we have a community full of people, businesses and organizations who can and will help them realize that potential,” Williams said. “We are creating opportunities for students to build those relationships.”
