Josefina’s Cocina serves Latin cuisine in Richardson

Restaurateur Fernando Barrera, who owns Latin Deli in Dallas, recently opened Josefina’s Cocina in Richardson.

The menu, which features breakfast, lunch and dinner options, includes nachos, fajitas, chilaquiles, enchiladas, salads and more. Breakfast items, including omelettes, crepes and waffles, are served all day. The drink menu features fruit margaritas, desert cocktails, cervezas, tequilas and mezcales.

What’s in a name?

Barrera said he chose the name of the restaurant as a tribute to his mother, Josefina Barrera Rodriquez, who was a single mother to four sons.

“[She] raised her children...with strong values and unshakeable faith. She taught them that nothing in life comes for free, that true success is earned through hard work, respect for others, mercy and gratitude,” Barrera said. “Most importantly, she reminded them to always believe in God and put Him first in every circumstance because without God, we would not be who we are today.”
