Zoning change for Richardson ski, nail technician schools formalized

Two changes to Richardson’s Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance have been approved, allowing for two new businesses to begin working toward opening in the city.

Richardson City Council took the action during the Nov. 13 meeting. The first change will allow for the development of Shredder, an indoor ski and snowboarding school, near the intersection of Arapaho Road and US 75, while the second will allow for the development of Boss Nail Academy along West Campbell Road.

The overview

The tenants have six months each to obtain a certificate of occupancy for the building or special permits related to the zoning change will expire, unless an extension is granted.

Shredder, a Colorado-based business, will provide indoor training for skiing and snowboarding within a facility located at 1002 N. Central Expressway. The building will have two ramps—one 6 feet and one 10 feet—and will hold classes for up to 15 students between the ages of 10 months and 10 years old.

Boss Nail Academy, which offers a 600-hour certification program, is looking to add its second location in North Texas. The first school is open in Wylie. Classes focusing on industry-standard sanitary practices, manicures, artificial nail enhancements and more will be held within a building located at 512 W. Campbell Road.
