Fewer Richardson residents have filed for unemployment in recent weeks, according to data from the Texas Workforce Commission.
Residents in the 75080 ZIP code filed 452 claims between May 20 and June 20. That number is down by about 37% from the April 22-May 23 reporting period, when 717 claims were filed, according to the commission.
Claims in the 75081 ZIP code decreased by 38% to 566 during that same time frame, and in 75082, claims dropped by 41% to 293.
Citywide, the number of claims fell from 2,137 to 1,311, a decline of about 39%. Across Texas, more than 400,000 claims were filed between May 20 and June 20, according to the commission.
