Dallas County seeing decline in number of positive coronavirus cases compared with early July

Dallas County is reporting a downward trend in coronavirus cases compared with the number of positive cases seen in early July.

“While the numbers this week are shaping up to be lower than they were at our high point reached earlier this month, they are still over four times higher than the average when the Governor’s Open Texas plan started," Dallas County Judge Clay Jensen said in a July 31 press release. Richardson has a total of 828 positive coronavirus cases, per data reported July 31.

In Dallas County, there have been 5,230 new cases of the novel coronavirus between July 25-31, a 6% decrease from the 5,555 cases reported the week prior. This brings the total number of cases in Dallas County to 49,976, according to data.

In Collin County, there have been 588 new cases from July 25-30, a 27% decrease from the prior week. This brings the total number of cases in Collin County to 6,253 cases, according to data.

In Dallas County, data shows that over 2,500 children younger than 18 years old have tested positive for coronavirus in July. Data shows that those in 20-29 age group in Collin County have had the largest number of positive cases followed by those ages 30-39.

In addition, the data shows 85 deaths in Dallas County during the past seven days. The total number of deaths in Dallas County since tracking began in March is 664.
