Party City to close in Richardson

Party City in the Richardson Heights shopping center is set to close, a company representative said.

The company, which sells party supplies, will be winding down its operations and will close stores nationwide, according to the news release issued Dec. 21, 2024.

The details

Party City filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2023, which allowed the company to restructure and eliminate nearly $1 billion in debt; however, the efforts were not enough to keep the company afloat and it filed for bankruptcy again.

What you need to know

The Richardson Party City location will remain open for “a few months,” an employee said, adding that the store may be open through February to reduce inventory levels.
