Prosper ISD superintendent to retire this year
Prosper ISD’s Superintendent Holly Ferguson will retire at the end of 2026. Ferguson announced her retirement in a letter to PISD teachers, staff and parents, which was sent out March 9. The PISD board extended Ferguson’s contract to 2031 during a February meeting. Her contract before the extension ran from July 2025 through June 2030. Ferguson will continue to lead through May 18 and then transition to superintendent emeritus and officially retire Jan. 31, 2027.
Celina adds school zones for new middle schools
School zones have been set for Willard Middle School in Celina ISD and Jim Bridges Middle School in Prosper ISD. The speed limit on Frontier Parkway near Jim Bridges Middle School will be reduced to 35 mph, and the rest of the new school zones will be limited to 20 mph. The school zones will apply during each school’s drop-off and pickup times.
Celina ISD names 3 new elementary schools
The three elementary schools, which will be the district's sixth, seventh and eighth elementary campuses, are set to open in the 2027-28 school year. Elementary School No. 6 will be named Alma Jo Scott Elementary School in honor of Alma Jo Scott, who dedicated 38 years to serving CISD and is coined as an original "Bobcat Mom." The seventh elementary school will be named Ophelia Grumbles Elementary School in honor of Ophelia Grumbles, who began teaching in Celina in the late 1930s and devoted the majority of her career to serving Celina ISD students. The eighth elementary campus will be named after Janet H. Calvert, who dedicated more than 30 years to CISD as a teacher, assistant principal and principal.

Collin College to keep current tuition rates for fall 2026 semester
Collin College students can expect their tuition prices to remain the same after college leaders approved next year's tuition rates. The college's tuition rates will remain $67 per credit hour for in-district residents, $127 per credit hour for out-of-district residents and $202 per credit hour for out-of-state or out-of-country residents. The college's in-district tuition rate is the lowest in the state.
