One of the city of Plano’s mosquito traps has tested positive for West Nile virus—the third trap to return a positive result reported by the city in a three-day period. Weather permitting, the city will spray areas near the traps beginning 9 p.m. Monday, according to a city news release. The area to be sprayed is bordered by Wimbledon Lane, Brisbane Lane, Geneva Lane and Premier Drive. The city release urged residents to ensure children and pets remain indoors during the time of the spraying. In order to prevent the spread of West Nile virus, the city also urged residents to drain standing water in or around their homes, dress appropriately before going outdoors, and wear bug spray containing DEET.
