Vickery Park eatery stakes claim as casual hangout in downtown Plano

Teele said he is in the process of revamping the menu at Vickery Park to add items and adjust prices that have stayed steady since the restaurant opened in early 2009.

The revamped menu would retain many of its old favorites, he said.

These dishes include Prince Edward Island mussels sautéed with a homestyle citrus cream sauce ($8 half order, $13 full order), blackened salmon ($13) served with asparagus and the crowd favorite brisket sandwich ($8), Teele said. The sandwich comes with a Kahlua cream sauce, with smoked cheese served on a honey bun with the choice of a side.

“Most of our food is scratch-made,” he said. “We [also] have some great craft beers with a lot of local influence, and we rotate our 12 draft beers.”

The best part about Vickery Park, Teele said, is the sense of community and casual environment.

The regulars are close-knit, Teele said, but guests will almost always see an open seat between people at the bar. This draws people in by themselves or in groups, but when they leave, they do so with a new friend, Teele said.

“[While here,] you’re going to have some great food, and you’re going to meet one of your next friends,” he said.
