Plano residents will see another water tower undergo renovations in east Plano soon as the city finishes up renovations for the Parker Road water tower.

The city is rehabilitating elevated storage tanks, or water towers, with deteriorated protective coating and structural deficiencies.
The storage tank along Jupiter Road in east Plano is the next tank approved for renovations, per city documents. The improvements are expected to help with the city’s water quality and durability of its water system. The designs, to be completed by Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc., will also add more site access and security for operators.
Drew Zaeske, the city’s community investment program manager, said the city is currently working on improvements for the water tower near Parker Road and is expected to be completed in October. The new coating at the tower will have a new formula made without PFAs, which can cause negative effects to the liver and kidneys per previous reporting.

Plano City Council approved $339,250 to go toward designs for Jupiter Road’s water tower renovations at a meeting Aug. 24. The tank was constructed in 1990 and last saw improvements in 2016, per city documents.
