Plano ISD is set to adopt its 2027-28 academic calendar in March or April.
The district board of trustees were presented the calendar’s final draft during its March 10 meeting.
What you need to know
On the 2027-28 draft calendar, the first day of school for students would be Aug. 11, 2027 with the last day set for May 24, 2028.
Fall break is set for Oct. 11-15, Thanksgiving break is set for Nov. 22-26 and Winter break would range from Dec. 20, 2027-Jan. 4, 2028. Students would also have a spring break from March 13-17 and additional days off on March 20, April 14 and April 17.

District staff finished receiving feedback from groups of district staff, parents and students last month, PISD Chief Communications Officer Lesley Range-Stanton said.
She added that vetting groups were “satisfied” with the 2026-27 calendar, leading to many similarities with the presented draft.
Range-Stanton also said that planned breaks remain lined up Collin College’s and that the academic calendar can “absorb” three-to-four inclement weather days before needing to add school days.
