Three former Plano ISD campuses are in the final step of the purchasing process with the city of Plano.

Property ownership for the former Davis Elementary officially transferred to the city April 22 and for the former Armstrong Middle on May 6, Plano Director of Planning Christina Day said during a presentation at a joint meeting between the city of Plano and Plano ISD on April 30.
Property ownership for the former Forman Elementary will officially be transferred May 27, Day said. Residents expressed strong opposition to housing redevelopments for the properties at city open house meetings.
“They really wanted it to be a community-focused redevelopment,” Day said.
Residents expressed support to expand Caddo Park with the Davis Elementary property and redevelop the Armstrong Middle property into a park as well, Day said. Residents were in support of relocating the city’s Fire Station 3 at the former Forman Elementary property as well.
Day said residents also expressed interest in more public outreach meetings for the Forman Elementary property to determine other uses for the remaining land after plans for the fire station are finalized.
Both the Armstrong and Foreman properties are currently zoned single-family residential for 7,000-square-foot minimum lots, while the Davis property is zoned single-family for 9,000-square-foot minimum lots, Day said. Permitted uses for the lots include parks and playgrounds, fire stations and public safety buildings and single-family detached housing.

The city held several open house meetings through September and October for community input about the three properties, per previous reporting.
The three properties are part of four schools Plano ISD approved for closure due to declining enrollment. One property, the former Carpenter Middle, is still owned by the school district.
