Applications set to begin for Plano summer internship program led by Mayor John Muns

Plano high school students can soon apply for a summer internship program led by Mayor John Muns.

The Plano Mayor’s Summer Internship Program will accept registrations from Feb. 1 until March 1.

The program places qualifying PISD students in corporate and nonprofit internship roles. The positions will be paid a minimum of $10 per hour for 20-40 hours per week over an eight-week span during the summer. The first 400 applicants will be considered, according to a city news release.

To apply, the release stated students must complete an online application and two short essays. Additionally, they must be a rising junior or senior at a Plano public high school or Hebron High School and reside in Plano city limits.

Students must have a 3.0 grade point average and a solid attendance record, be age 16 by June 13 and be eligible to work in the U.S. Students must be able to work the entire eight weeks of the internship from June 6-July 29 or dates determined by the employer, according to the release.
