Plano City Council approved landscaping services for Mendomi Park, a new 5-acre park coming to the Legacy West area, at a meeting May 11.

The city awarded $506,792 to Dallas-based landscaping business Studio Outside LLC to work on designs for the park per city documents. Studio Outside LLC will collect information about the location and provide design services in civil engineering, architecture, structural engineering, electrical engineering, lighting and irrigation design.
Funding comes from the city’s Park Improvements Community Investment Program.
Mendomi Park is planned to have the following amenities:
- Pavilion
- Lighted walking trails
- Bike racks
- Seated areas
- Irrigation
- Enhanced landscaping

The background
The land to be used for Mendomi Park, located near the intersection of Headquarters Drive and Legacy Drive, was purchased with a $15 million donation from Toyota Motor North America. The park is part of a 107-acre mixed-use development located at the former JCPenney headquarters per previous reporting.
Residents are interested in using the park primarily as a space for a quiet retreat, according to community feedback shared on the Mendomi Park Master Plan.
