Voters approved Plano ISD's $481 million bond package with 78.54 percent of the voters in favor of the bond package compared to 21.46 percent of the voters against with all precincts reporting. The bond package will allocate money for the construction, renovation, land acquisition and equipment for school buildings. The package also includes funding for the purchase of school buses and the construction of a new fine arts performance center. Results are unofficial until canvassed.

It has been eight years since Plano voters approved the district's last bond package which allocated money for new schools among other items. The 2016 bond package was voted on in a single proposition. The bond package will be rolled out over a period of five years. For example projects such as renovations and upgrades could begin within the next year but construction of a new facility like the performing arts center would start towards the end of the five-year period.
