Plano City Council awarded a $620,000 sidewalk repair contract to Utah-based Precision Concrete Cutting, with an option to renew, to help the city respond to repair service requests in an April 14 meeting. This is Precision Concrete’s second contract with the city.
The context
In the previous contract, Precision Concrete removed 26,000 sidewalk trip hazards at an average cost of $55 per repair by cutting the uneven surfaces away with a horizontal saw to smooth out uneven sidewalk panels, according to 2022 city documents. The traditional sidewalk repair method involves completely removing and replacing the panels at an average cost of $864 per repair, current city documents state. Previous repair locations include several sidewalks in the Country Place Plano and Park Forest neighborhoods on the northwest side, according to information from Plano City Works.
