Williamson County holds ribbon cutting for $13M CR 101 improvement project

Officials from Williamson County and the city of Taylor held a ribbon-cutting ceremony May 4 to celebrate the completion of a $13 million road improvement project on CR 101.

The project reconstructed approximately 3.2 miles of CR 101 between Chandler Road and US 79, widening the lanes to 12 feet. It also added left-turn lanes at the intersections of CR 101 with CR 394/CR 368 and Chandler.

Funding for the project, which took approximately two years, came from a combination of 2019 road bond funds and the city of Taylor.

The section of CR 101 that received improvements lies along the eastern edge of Hutto's extraterritorial jurisdiction and just north of the city's 1,400-acre "megasite."

Precinct 4 County Commissioner Russ Boles said the improvements will allow CR 101 to act as a major arterial road as growth in the area continues.

“To say County Road 101 is an important road for east Williamson County would be an understatement,” Boles said. “The amount of traffic and safety issues that this road addresses are important because as the county grows, this is going to be a major arterial. The fact that we’re taking care of and investing in it means a bright future for the east side of the county."
