When Pflugerville residents call for emergency services after Oct. 1, EMS transportation will be provided by Travis County Emergency Services District No. 2, following action from local officials.
What happened
Pflugerville City Council on July 14 approved a measure to transition ambulance and emergency medical services from Allegiance Mobile Health to Travis County ESD 2, effective Oct. 1.
Through approved agreements between the city and ESD, the city of Pflugerville will partially compensate the ESD for providing ambulance transport and advanced life support emergency medical services within the city, according to a July 15 news release.
How it works
Council approved interlocal agreements to transition these services, including an agreement with Travis County ESD 2 for emergency medical services and an agreement with Travis County authorizing grant funding for provision of these services.
Under the first agreement, the city of Pflugerville will commit $1.9 million for the first two years to fund these services. The second agreement provides $600,000 in grant funding from Travis County toward services.
According to the release, for each of the following years of the six-year contract with Travis County ESD 2, the contract cost will increase by 2.5%.

Similarly, ESD 2 Fire Chief Nick Perkins highlighted the district's longevity and history of serving Pflugerville.
“For more than 70 years, ESD No. 2 has proudly served this community, and we remain committed to delivering high-quality fire and emergency medical services to our residents,” Perkins said. “This action represents progress, and we are ready to continue working with the City to ensure Pflugerville has the reliable, lifesaving EMS services it deserves.”
