Following the release of a video on social media in which a teacher at Pflugerville ISD's Bohls Middle School made statements claiming to be "ethnocentric" in front of students, the district has taken several disciplinary measures while maintaining the incident was not in line with its core values.
The teacher in question resigned Nov. 12 following an internal investigation by PfISD's human resources department, according to an announcement from the PfISD board of trustees sent to parents Nov. 18.
PfISD officials have not provided the teacher's name but stated since his resignation, the district has reported his actions to the State Board for Educator Certification and is in the process of submitting an educator misconduct complaint through the Texas Education Agency’s Division of Compliance and Investigations.
As a next step, the announcement stated the district will examine grades in the teacher's class for statistical biases and address any findings.
