Hutto ISD trustees approve 10-cent increase in school lunch prices

Hutto ISD students will be paying $0.10 more for their lunches in the coming school year, after Hutto ISD trustees approved an increase to the price of paid lunches in June.

What you need to know

Trustees approved the increase June 27, bringing the price of paid lunches to $2.85 for elementary school students, $3.10 for secondary school students and $4 for adult meals in the 2024-25 school year.

HISD Chief Financial Officer Caleb Steed said the increase comes as a requirement and compliance measure from the Texas Education Agency.

What else?

The district will also continue to offer free breakfast to all students in the 2024-25 school year, and has launched a new online system to facilitate deposits to student lunch accounts and applications for free and reduced lunch. With the new payment system in place, parents will have to set up accounts to continue adding funds to their students' accounts remotely. Students and parents will still be able to access their lunch accounts in the cafeteria at the register.
