Hutto ISD selects architect for Elementary School No. 8

A new elementary school funded by 2023 Hutto ISD bond funds is on the horizon as district officials move forward with hiring an architect to design the campus.

What happened

HISD trustees selected an architect to design its next elementary school Sept. 26. LPA Architects will design Elementary School No. 8, a project funded by the 2023 bond. Construction of the school will be funded by a portion of the $471.5 million in bonds approved by voters under Proposition A in May.

Elementary School No. 8 is one of two primary schools approved by voters in May.

What else?

As the design process for the next elementary school begins with LPA Architects, officials will look at Kerley Elementary School as a "prototype," said Brandon Cardwell, HISD's director of capital improvement and facilities planning.

"They're going to be getting with staff members, students, executive leaders, other leaders in the district and allowing them to help guide the design of this Elementary No. 8 to grab the good and the bad from Kerley, essentially," Cardwell said.
