Hutto ISD ratifies FY 2023-24 tax rate to fund higher education center

Residents located within the East Williamson County Higher Education Center's taxing district will note that property tax rate funding the center will remain the same as last year.

What happened

Hutto ISD officials voted Sept. 14 to ratify a tax rate of $0.03832 per $100 valuation for fiscal year 2023-24 to fund the higher education center per the request of Temple College, district officials said. Located at 1600 Innovation Blvd., Hutto, the higher education center is home to Temple College, Texas State Technical College's East Williamson County Campus and Texas A&M University's Central Texas campus.

What residents should know

The rate funding the higher education center will yield a tax bill 7.58% higher than the no-new-revenue rate for the average home owner, due to an increase in the overall property tax base, officials said. Proceeds from this tax levy fund the operations of the center, which provides a wide variety of educational opportunities for area students seeking degrees and trade certifications.
