2. Downtown East’s Monarch Recreation Center moves into next construction phase

City leaders, construction crews and community members gathered this week to mark a major milestone in the development of The Monarch, a new multigenerational recreation center rising within Pflugerville’s Downtown East district.

What happened

The ceremony celebrated the signing and placement of the building’s final structural beam, symbolizing the completion of the facility’s steel framework and the transition into its next phase of construction.

3. New multifamily housing underway at The District in Round Rock

Just under a year after Mark IV Capital broke ground on the infrastructure for its Round Rock mixed-used project known as The District, the developer and city officials marked the start of vertical construction on the project March 4.

What you need to know

The developer held a ground breaking for Origin at The District, a luxury multifamily residential community. Speakers at the event highlighted plans for high ceilings, street-level retail and strong amenities for residents. These residences will be integrated directly into ground-level retail.

4. St. David’s HeathCare acquires six Austin Emergency Centers across greater Austin area

St. David's HealthCare acquired ownership of six Austin Emergency Center locations Feb. 1.

The Central Texas hospital system is aiming to meet an increased demand for emergency care from more Austin-area patients, David Huffstutler, president and CEO of St. David’s HealthCare, said in a news release.
