2. Alvin ISD Turtle Race 1K/5K

The Alvin ISD Education Foundation Annual Turtle Race is set for Saturday. Check-in starts at 7:45 a.m. and the fun run begins at 9 a.m. at First National Oak Park in Alvin. 3. Pearland Farmers Market

4. Softball opening day

The Pearland Girls Softball Association celebrates opening day with team photos, carnival games, vendors and more starting at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Dads' Club Community Park, 3219 Veterans Road, Pearland. 5. Peppers & Pints Chili Cookoff

HERO&S—Helping Emergency Response Officers and Students—is partnering with Bakfish Brewing for its Peppers & Pints Chili Cookoff, noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
