The Pearland city manager position was posted on a government resources website, opening the role to the public for applications after the previous city manager was fired in November.
The job posting was posted on the Strategic Government Resources website, which is an organization that assists local governments with recruitment, consulting and training. The posting calls for a candidate with at least 10 years of local government experience.
A document detailing the responsibilities of the position states the city manager provides executive leadership for the city of Pearland and all its operations, and the role is the “go-between for the elected policy body, the City Council, the community, and the city organization.”
Previous City Manager Clay Pearson was removed from the role following the discovery of a worksheet error with a property value miscalculation that brought the city a $10 million deficit and incorrect tax rates.
