PREVIEW: Pearland to consider improvements to Sportsplex, trailheads

Pearland City Council is scheduled to consider two agenda items related to parks and roadway improvements at Shadow Creek Ranch and along Broadway Street at its Sept. 28 meeting.

What residents need to know

Council will consider an agreement with the Pearland Economic Development Corporation, or PEDC, to provide up to $22 million for improvements to the Sportsplex at Shadow Creek Ranch and Clear Creek trailhead, city documents show.

The agreement also includes up to $1 million for the expansion of Broadway Street from Kirby Drive to Half Moon Bay Drive, documents show.

Council will also consider approving improvements to lighting at Hickory Slough Sportsplex, where only three of the facility's six existing fields currently have field lighting, documents show. 

If approved, the lighting improvements will have an estimated cost of nearly $1.4 million. Funding will come from an agreement with the PEDC, documents show.
