Pearland recently made significant progress in its effort to streamline traffic regulation with the purchase of 11 NoTraffic sensors powered by artificial intelligence to provide the city with real-time traffic data and alert the city when there’s a problem.
What happened
Pearland City Council voted unanimously at its Feb. 23 meeting to purchase 11 sensors from Texas Highway Products for $319,000 to be installed at intersections across the city.
The backstory
In 2025, the city bought over 30 sensor systems from Texas Highway Products, as previously reported by Community Impact.
Like the latest purchase, future sensors will be installed in batches of about 10-15 intersections at a time, Pearland Traffic Superintendent Mario Tellez said.
The timeline
The sensors will be installed within 45 days of receipt of the purchase order, Texas Highway Products Sales Director Tim Morehead said.
