Angela Dees, the Republican candidate, will face Democratic candidate Steve Sanders for Brazoria County treasurer.
The Brazoria County treasurer oversees the county’s financial operations, serving communities across the county, including parts of Pearland, as well as Manvel, Iowa Colony and Angleton. The seat is currently held by Dees.

Why are you running for this position?
I am running to bring proven financial leadership, transparency and accountability to the Brazoria County Treasurer’s Office. As a credit union president, Army veteran, and former union secretary-treasurer, I understand stewardship and public trust. I will protect taxpayer dollars and ensure county funds are managed responsibly.
What would your top priorities be if elected?
My priorities are safeguarding county funds, strengthening financial controls, maintaining accurate and timely records and improving public transparency. I will promote efficient cash management, responsible banking practices, and accessible financial information so residents can better understand how their tax dollars are being protected and managed.
What projects are most important for the legislature to focus on for the future of Texas?
Texas should prioritize water supply, flood mitigation, transportation, a reliable electrical grid, cybersecurity and workforce development. These investments are especially important in rapidly growing counties like Brazoria. State leaders should partner with local governments while ensuring projects are transparently funded, responsibly managed and completed with long-term needs in mind.
