Two candidates are running for Brazoria County clerk in the general election on Nov. 3.
The overview
Joyce Hudman, the Republican candidate, will face Democratic candidate Adrienne Bell for Brazoria County clerk.
The Brazoria County clerk manages county records, elections and other official filings, serving communities across the county, including parts of Pearland, as well as Manvel, Iowa Colony and Angleton. The seat is currently held by Hudman.

Why are you running for this position?
After over 25 years under the same leadership, it is time for a fresh approach. Brazoria County has grown and changed, and the County Clerk’s office should change with it. I am running to modernize the office, improve access to information and change the standard for how residents are served.
What would your top priorities be if elected?
My top priority is modernizing the County Clerk’s website so residents can easily find information and access services. Additionally, I will advocate for 7 a.m.–7 p.m. early voting hours to give working people more opportunity to vote.
How do you plan to involve residents in the decision-making process?
I will take the County Clerk’s office into the community by holding meetings throughout Brazoria County, not just in Angleton. I will listen to residents, provide clear information and create opportunities for engagement.

Why are you running for this position?
The work of serving Brazoria County is never truly done. The County Clerk’s office handles your most life-defining moments from birth, death and marriage to property deeds and voting ballots. I still love my job, employees and representing Brazoria County.
What would your top priorities be if elected?
I want to build on the progress we’ve achieved in the past 27 years and ensure our county operations expand efficiently as our population grows.
How do you plan to involve residents in the decision-making process?
I believe the best way to serve Brazoria County is to listen to its residents. I will continue encouraging their input, keeping them informed, and using their feedback to improve the services provided by the County Clerk’s Office.
