Pearland will host the third annual Mother’s Day Walk and Wellness celebration May 10, founded by resident Myra Johnson, to highlight wellness and support for mothers and caregivers, according to an April news release from Mother's Day Walk Houston.
The event will be held from 4-6:30 p.m. at the Shadow Creek Ranch Nature Trail and West Pearland Library, located at 11801 Shadow Creek Parkway, Pearland.
Entry is free with an RSVP and a donation of any amount through May 9, while day-of tickets are $20 per adult and $10 per child, according to the news release.
“Many moms are depleted,” Johnson said in the release. “We give everything—to our families, our work, our communities. But when we as caregivers take time to restore ourselves, the entire community becomes stronger.”

The participants can choose between a 3- or 6-mile route, and the trail is accessible for strollers, wheelchairs and mobility assistance devices, according to the event website.
“I wanted to create an experience that gives families the space to have meaningful conversations and enjoy the health and wellness benefits of nature,” Johnson said on the website. “May is Mental Health Awareness month. It doesn’t surprise me that a lot of research demonstrates the power that walking and talking can have on mental health, physical health and relationships.”
The event will also feature a wellness experience led by Memorial Hermann Pearland, including chair massages, aromatherapy, nutrition offerings and on-site medical professionals providing guidance on pediatric care, maternal wellness and mental health, according to the release.
Attendees can explore seven interactive zones focused on wellness and reflection, kids and family activities, creative workshops, community engagement and a “Plant in Honor” experience, according to the release.
More than 20 local organizations and businesses, including Memorial Hermann, the city of Pearland, i9 Sports Pearland and Keep Pearland Beautiful, are supporting the event and its initiative to assist children in foster care and crisis, according to the release.
What’s new
Johnson is launching a new campaign on May 5 titled “20 Voices of Encouragement,” featuring messages of support for mothers from local Pearland and Houston leaders including outgoing Alvin ISD Superintendent Carol Nelson.
“My hope is that people see this event as the perfect Mother’s Day gift,” Johnson said on the website. “It’s a way to celebrate your mom, treat your mom, and also help other moms and children in great need. For those families who are unavailable to participate, consider donating tickets or stopping by briefly to drop off an in-kind donation anytime before 6:30 PM.”
