Full 2021 Austin FC regular season schedule released with 6 games against Texas rivals

The only Eastern Conference club Austin FC will face in the 2021 regular season is defending MLS Cup champions Columbus Crew SC. Austin FC owner and chair Anthony Precourt in 2017 announced he was exploring options to relocate the Columbus franchise, which he owned at the time, to Austin. Ultimately, the Columbus franchise was sold to another ownership group, and Precourt was granted Austin as an expansion franchise from MLS.

Austin FC is further scheduled to face interstate rivals FC Dallas and Houston Dynamo FC a combined total of six times this season. The first matches against either team will be held during MLS’ Heineken Rivalry Week in early August, beginning with a tilt against Houston on Aug. 4 at Q2 Stadium.

The MLS season will conclude Nov. 7, when Austin FC travels to the Pacific Northwest to take on the Portland Timbers.

If Austin FC qualifies for the postseason, the MLS Cup Playoffs are scheduled to begin Nov. 19 with the championship MLS Cup match on Dec. 11.

National broadcasts for selected Austin FC games will be aired on FS1, ESPN, Univision and UniMás, according to a March 24 news release from Austin FC.

Individual tickets for 2021 season games at Q2 Stadium will go on sale to fans on the waitlist of Austin FC’s Oak Collective. Unclaimed tickets will then go on sale to the general public, Austin FC stated in its news release. Austin FC has not yet publicly stated if fans will be permitted to attend games in person, but the team stated an announcement will come approximately one month before Austin FC’s home opener in June.
