Dallas-based Forest Park Medical Center is planning to build a new physician-owned hospital located in far North Austin near MoPac and SH 45 N, according to a site plan application filed April 11 with the City of Austin.
Donna Galati, senior planner with the city, said city staff completed a review of the plan May 29, but the plan has not yet been approved, a process that typically takes six months. Staffers are waiting on the applicant, engineering firm Bury + Partners, to submit an update, she said.
In a May 31 statement released by FPMC, officials said its state-of-the-art facilities focus on "providing unsurpassed surgical specialty care." The hospital group is planning a 145,000-square-foot surgical center that will "bring the latest and most effective technology in medical care to the Austin community," according to the statement.
