The Texas American Federation of Teachers is scheduled to host Create a Vision for Texas Public Schools, an event to discuss how to improve public education in the state.
The forum will be from 6–8 p.m. Jan. 23 at Round Rock High school. The event is free, open to the public and is meant for anyone in Central Texas, said Stephen Wright, Texas AFT lead organizer for the region.
The discussion will focus on several topics, including school funding, teacher accountability and quality of teaching, according to the federation's website.
Attendees will break up into small groups, and their ideas will be documented by a facilitator from Texas AFT. Wright said the organization has held several of these events since early October; the compiled ideas from attendees will be passed on to Texas AFT members and staff.
