OriGen Biomedical recently opened a new Austin headquarters and manufacturing facility on Grand Avenue Parkway.
The overview
Founded in Austin, OriGen Biomedical makes a variety of products for cryopreservation and cell culture. The company produces freezing bags used to cool and store biological materials, as well as bags used to protect and store cells and tissues.
The 82,000-square-foot facility more than doubles the company’s previous footprint, according to a news release. The space features 6,600 square feet of cleanroom space, a sterile fill suite, modern manufacturing infrastructure, and expanded office and collaboration areas.
What they’re saying
“After nearly 30 years of growing right here in Austin, opening this facility is an important milestone for our company and our employee-owners,” Beth San Segundo, president and CEO of OriGen Biomedical, said in the release. “Our business has evolved alongside advances in medical technology, and today, we’re proud to support the growing cell and gene therapy industry with products used in cryopreservation and cell culture. This new facility represents our continued investment in the people, technology, and manufacturing capabilities needed to serve our customers and support the development of therapies that improve patients’ lives.”
