From Tex-Mex cuisine to New York-style pizza, Austin’s dining scene is expanding with a handful of recently opened restaurants and a few coming soon to keep on your radar. This list is not comprehensive.
Restaurant owner Tasha Miller, who is also behind Pelons Tex Mex, Bar 508 Mezcalerita and 508 Coffee Shop, plans to open Blue Agave Tex Mex to the public on Nov. 29 at 11 a.m. Menu items will include carnitas, enchiladas, quesadillas and more, as well as monthly food and drink specials.
Co-owned by chef Gianbattista “Gianba” Vinzoni and actor and comedian Tom Segura, Ciccio Bomba is now serving Italian baked goods at Fareground. The new space highlights Italian culture through traditional pastries with handcrafted cornetti, focaccia, artisan breads, seasonal pastries, savory options and more.
The restaurant serves nigiri, sashimi and crudos featuring a variety of protein options, including wagyu, madai, maguro zuke and kanpachi. Konbini’s menu is inspired by traditional Japanese cuisine alongside flavors from Texas and Mexico. Menu options will rotate frequently depending on the season and regional flavors, according to Konbini information.
The latest branch of Texas Roadhouse held its soft opening in Leander on Nov. 24. The restaurant chain is known for its ribs, steaks, burgers, fried chicken and homemade sides. The franchise has more than 700 branches worldwide.
The restaurant, bar and cafe will serve New York-style pizza offered whole and by the slice alongside salads and appetizers. The pizza shop is the latest concept by the owners of Hank’s Austin and will be located directly next to the American restaurant and coffee shop.
The Twelve Thirty Club is moving into the historic space previously known as a former U.S. Post Office built between 1912 and 1914 designed by James Knox Taylor. In the 1960s, the building was gifted to The University of Texas at Austin and renamed for Lady Bird Johnson. The restaurant will boast almost 35,000 square feet of reimagined design. As the second location, the space will feature some of the Nashville location’s signature offerings while also bringing Austin-inspired dishes and cocktails to the mix.
