High Road DelicaTexan, a new all-day cafe, deli, market and cocktail bar helmed by chef Russell Dougherty, Salumist Ryan Wilson, beverage director Chadwick Leger—the team behind East Austin’s The Cavalier, has opened in South Austin.

The new concept focuses on partnerships with local farms and producers, emphasizing sustainably sourced proteins and dairy, according to a news release.

The menu features grab-and-go and made-to-order sandwiches, house-made sausages and cured meats, vegetarian options, a full coffee program and craft cocktails.

Family owned ice cream trailer Milkmade has announced its upcoming opening in the parking lot of Michi Ramen in North Austin.

The business is owned and operated by mother-and-daughter duo, Jacalyn Helms and Erin Mindell Cannon. The neighborhood can look forward to small-batch, seasonal specialty ice creams which will be offered on a rotating basis.

In addition to homemade ice cream the trailer will serve milkshakes. In a news release, the business stated it will be offering both dairy and vegan options.

Saté Texas champions Indonesian flavors in Round Rock

After years of selling Indonesian food at local food fairs and from a food truck, Eugene and Tina Villarreal recently marked one year operating Saté Texas at its brick-and-mortar location in Round Rock.

The restaurant specializes in Indonesian-style satay and grilled dishes influenced by Southeast Asian, Middle Eastern and Indian flavors. The Villarreals said the first year has brought both challenges and steady signs of growth.

“It’s very challenging,” Tina said. “A lot of people don’t really know what Indonesian cuisine is. They walk in, they look around, and they’re unsure what they’re going to get.”
