Well-known jazz club team announces latest project Nica on 4th opening in downtown

“Being in this scene for decades and watching different types of bars and venues come and go, Kris and I wanted to build something that we felt Austin was lacking,” Frescas said. “We wanted to create a place that reflects our collective background in crafting amazing cocktails, providing premium service and setting a scene heightened by great jazz. Nica fills a unique gap in Austin nightlife. It’s not just a regular bar, and it’s not a music venue. It’s a different experience. We want to be the best night you’ve had all week.”

What to expect

Patrons can look forward to a bar program featuring cocktails, spirits, wines and non-alcoholic beverages, offering options for everyone.

Specific drinks on the menu include the Toronto, a rye old-fashioned with an amaro tang and a “Martini” Martin, a ‘50s style martini combining vintage flavors with aged cognac, brightened wine and an absinthe rinse.

Some background

College friends and business partners Kimura and Frescas have a resume filled with years of playing with bands and artists in the Austin music scene. In 2021, the duo joined Elephant Room and soon after Kimura brought Frescas onto the Parker Jazz Club operations team.
