A 44-year-old vintage shop in North Austin is changing ownership and undergoing a few changes.
What's happening
LuCretia Sisk is stepping down as the owner of Room Service Vintage after 26 years and passing the torch to Audrie San Miguel, co-owner of Prototype Vintage and former Room Service Vintage employee, according to a news release.
San Miguel already plans to expand the space by over 400 square feet and extend the store's hours from noon-6 p.m. to 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
“Having been a regular Room Service customer for [over] 30 years, [San Miguel] knows what it is that keeps customers coming back," Sisk said in the release. "It’s more than just the constantly changing inventory; the store has a sense of humor and an ‘accessible-to-all’ atmosphere.”
Sisk will remain at Room Service Vintage as a vendor. San Miguel will also still continue to operate Prototype Vintage, located off South Congress Avenue, with her business partner Emily Larson. The pair have operated the vintage clothing store since 2005.
The history
Patsy Crocker founded Room Service Vintage in 1981. Crocker turned what was once a pharmacy and soda fountain in the 1950s into one of the first vintage stores in Austin. Sisk took ownership in 1999 after Crocker stepped down, and San Miguel began her career in vintage at Room Service when Sisk took over the business, according to the release.
“It’s really a full-circle moment for me,” San Miguel said in the release. “[Sisk] taught me everything I know about vintage and running a store.”

Room Service Vintage will host a free open house Aug. 30 with prizes, drawings, a DJ and more.
