3. Wonder World Drive/Hunter Road intersection improvements

On Aug. 15, San Marcos City Council voted to spend $65,145 on design services for pedestrian and cyclist improvements at the Wonder World Drive/Hunter Road intersection. Due to the current design, northbound motorists tend to travel through the intersection while using northbound right-turn lane. Construction costs are still being determined. Senior Engineer Rohit Vij said the objective is to make the intersection safer for pedestrians and cyclists.

Timeline: September 2017-December 2018

4. Bunton Road reconstruction

The majority of the construction on Bunton Road was completed in late August. The city of Kyle project reconstructed the 1-mile portion of Bunton from I-35 to Lehman Road. Reconstruction of the road began in September 2016. The $3.8 million project was funded through the city’s 2013 bond package.

5. SH 45 SW construction

In early July contractors completed construction of columns on the Bear Creek bridge as well as a section of utility relocation near Little Bear Creek. When construction on the highway is complete it will connect FM 1626 in Hays County with MoPac in Travis County. The more-than-$100 million project, which is being funded by Hays and Travis counties as well as the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority, will feature two lanes in each direction.
