Businesses and community groups are organizing recovery efforts in the wake of flooding along Spring and Cypress creeks, but some area events were canceled due to flood damage at parks and facilities.
The Cypress Creek Cultural District area event CreekFest, which was scheduled for Oct. 7 along Cypresswood Drive, was canceled this year.
The 1960 Hope Center Golf for Hope tournament scheduled for Sept. 19 at Gleannloch Pines Golf Club and the Room for Hope festival at Kinsmen Lutheran Church, scheduled for Oct. 10, have both been pushed back to 2018.
Likewise, any events scheduled at Barbara Bush Branch Library, the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts or The Centrum this fall are subject to cancellation or rescheduling because each of those facilities was damaged by creek flooding.
We have included information about several fundraising efforts in the area in our lead story this month. Follow communityimpact.com/skl for additional coverage as our communities begin to recover.
