“After becoming familiar with independent kitchen stores and visiting many of them across the country, I decided downtown McKinney needed a new one,” Chandler said. “So with my industry knowledge and love of downtown McKinney, Kitchenwares on the Square was born in September 2010.”
Chandler said Kitchenwares on the Square is the only independently owned kitchenware store in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, adding that she takes pride in that fact and works to keep the store stocked with plenty of well-priced options. The store stocks only products vetted by Chandler.
“People are drawn to Kitchenwares because we have amazing products at great prices,” she said. “We are either the same or cheaper than any major mass Kitchenware retailer. We have all the major brands and a better selection of products.”
The expertise of the staff also makes Kitchenwares on the Square popular among shoppers, Chandler said.
“The store wouldn’t be what we are today without the few people who work here,” she said. “Everyone who works here is an expert in the kitchen. The knowledge held by our staff and myself can help you conquer any questions you have to help you become a better cook.”
The store also offers cooking classes, including classes that focus on the Big Green Egg grill and knife use. Chandler said most classes cost about $49 or less.
“Classes are hands on and so much fun, but they do sell out fast,” she said. “We have one Dec. 15 on cooking pazole. Not only will you learn how to cook pazole, you will learn how to make bone broth and the many, many uses for a kitchen torch.”
Kitchenwares on the Square is also offering a new subscription-based delivery service called Kitchen Delivered, which guarantees members a mix of new gadgets delivered to their home every month. Chandler said the service has subscription plans for one, three, six and 12 months.
