1. Stars & Slides
Big Rivers Waterpark & Adventures will celebrate Independence Day with fireworks, a hot dog eating contest, festive food and patriotic treats.
2. Valley Ranch 4th Fest
Head to The Hill at Valley Ranch for an evening of shopping, fireworks, food trucks, a cash bar, a hot dog eating contest and activities for kids. Live music will be performed by Joey Green and Payton Howie.
3. Family Movie Friday
This summer, the R.B. Tullis Library will be screening movies from the "Jurassic Park" franchise. In July, movies will include “Jurassic World” on July 10, “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” on July 17 and “Jurassic World: Dominion” on July 24.
4. Watermelon Festival
“Trailer loads” of fresh Texas watermelon will be the star of this Montgomery County Market Days event. The event will also feature shopping from local vendors, competitions, live music and a petting zoo.
5. Country Western Days
Big Rivers Waterpark & Adventures will celebrate country music with two days of live musical performances and a live DJ.
6. Gold Ribbon Pickleball Classic
Play pickleball for a cause at this tournament hosted by Addi’s Faith Foundation, a local nonprofit that funds pediatric cancer research and offers financial assistance for families of children being treated for cancer.
7. New Caney Community Market
This monthly market is held in the parking lot of Valley Ranch Town Center and features vendors selling local produce, meat, honey, baked goods and artisan-made items.
8. Bar-B-Que Cook-off & Car Show
The New Caney/Splendora Subcommittee of the Houston Metro Go Texas Committee will host a barbecue cook-off and car show to support the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo’s scholarship program. The event will also include margarita- and Bloody Mary-making contests as well as live and silent auctions.
9. Back to School Drive Thru
The East Montgomery County Improvement District will distribute 2,500 free school supply packs for students in grades pre-K-8. No pre-registration is required.
10. Summer Throwdown Ax-Throwing Tournament
Spend the day ax-throwing and networking with the Greater East Montgomery County Chamber. An after-party will be held next door at Cowboy Surfer.
