$23.75M Porter High School remodel to start in early 2027

Construction on a $23.75 million upgrade for Porter High School program facilities is one step closer to beginning after New Caney ISD’s board of trustees selected the builder for the project March 16.

The big picture

During the NCISD board of trustees’ regular March 16 meeting, trustees chose Gamma Construction to complete Phase 3 of work at Porter High School.

The project will include adding and remodeling features for the high school’s fine arts, athletics, and career and technical education programs, said Scott Powers, NCISD’s executive director of public relations, via email March 11. The updates will include:

• Building a new covered multipurpose practice area
• Revamping the baseball, softball and football/soccer fields
• Adding new band and dance spaces
• Upgrades to fine arts and CTE spaces

What else?

Work is scheduled to begin in early 2027 and all the projects are estimated to be completed by spring 2028, Powers said.

The work at Porter High School is funded by the district's $695 million bond package, which was approved by voters in May 2023, as previously reported by Community Impact.
